Refusing to choose silence over conviction\, she transforms rejection and heartbreak into purpose\, using her God-given artistic gifts to build a powerful ministry of faith\, healing\, and hope beyond the only community she has ever known.  \nElva\nElva Hurst is a professional artist\, published author\, and musician born and raised in Lancaster County.  \nElva grew up in a conservative Mennonite family on a farm where she attended a small one-room Amish and Mennonite school. Though art was often viewed as unnecessary\, Hurst began sketching scenes between chores on the family dairy farm. In eighth grade\, a teacher recognized her artistic talent and encouraged her to pursue her gift. However\, 8th grade was the highest level of education that Elva’s parents and the school would allow. So\, after finishing the 8th grade\, she began to help out on her parents’ dairy farm. In her free time\, she began to teach herself how to paint. Determined to develop her craft\, Hurst taught herself to paint\, saving money for art books and studying other artists at work.
